Oil Leakage Detection Emergency Relief Safety Navigation
    • Oil Leakage Detection

Ship oil leakage is a major problem in maritime operations. Crude oil or diesel oil has a low density and usually float on waters after the leakage. Although the oil leakage is distributed separately, it has formed a thin membrane with a clear boundary. The only thing is there is no distinctive visual comparison between the oil membrane and water, making it difficult to be observed by the naked eye.

Water and oil membranes both represent dark black observed through a low angle of incidence. In turbulent or wavy waters, the reflection of water towards the sunshine or sky keeps changing. When the water surface changes between dark and light, it further enhances the covering of the oil membrane and makes it more difficult to detect oil leakage.

In different maritime and light conditions, the multi-wave range of the light spectrum brings hope for enhancing the comparison degree between petrochemical products and the water surface. It thus shows Tianbo thermal imager screens the ranges of invisible light, which plays a significant role in detecting oil leakage.

    • Emergency Relief

Tianbo infrared thermal imagers are widely applied in maritime rescue actions worldwide. After a person falls into the water, his head is the only visible body part. In a video, a white or red head-shaped image is represented against black or dark grayish background. The head usually emits more heat that water and is thus clearly visible. Such an effect can be obtained both in the daytime and at night to realize 24-h all-weather responses.

The infrared imaging technology does not need external lighting. Even the best disguise cannot escape the thermal image. Besides seeing the target of a human shape, the thermal imager is more distant than a competitive TV camera. In addition, there is another advantage. The heat signals of personnel, ships, cruise pier, dockyard, stacking and other things usually have a higher contrast ratio than those observed at day time. With only tiny temperature differences between the targets and background, the observer can discover them easily.

    • Safety Navigation

It is challenging to navigate a cruise on open waters. Meanwhile, it is more difficult and dangerous to conduct navigation on the waters covered by ice. While navigating on waters whose temperature is under 0℃, the shipping company is increasingly focused on the safety of ice-level cruises. Tianbo infrared thermal imager is capable of detecting the ice on the ocean even at a long distance to avoid collisions. Tianbo M-series thermal imagers are perfectly applicable to all ships.
